Lemko ABC, or meetings with ambassadors of the Lemko world

On July 17, 2025, the NOWYCIA Foundation hosted an exhibition of Areta T. Fedak’s graphic works, titled “PALIMPSEST,” presenting symbols and graphic signs related to the events of 78 years ago (Operation “Vistula,” Jaworzno) — a cruel palimpsest of the 20th century, perpetrated against the Ukrainian community in the Lemko, Boyko, and San River regions.

The events of 1947 were represented through the symbols of 600 towns, erased from the map, deprived of their native inhabitants, icons, pastors, children, songs, prayers, crosses, churches, cemeteries, homes, life, and panachydas (funeral services).
