Areta T. Fedak
Graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw — specialization in book graphics. She deals with easel painting, workshop graphics (linocut), satirical drawing, applied graphics and new illustration techniques.
She has presented her works at many domestic and foreign exhibitions (Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Canada, Japan, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine).
“PALIMPSEST” — exhibition of symbols and graphic signs related to events from 78 years ago ACTION “VISTULA”, JAWORZNO. Cruel palimpsest of the 20th century committed against the Ukrainian community of southeastern Poland.
I try to show the events of 1947 with a symbol — 600 towns erased from the map, deprived of their native inhabitants, icons, pastors, children, singing, prayers, crosses, churches, cemeteries, houses, life and panakhyda (funeral services). The railway tracks in three directions are the tryzub of 1947. The palimpsest continues, but now it is performed on architectural monuments — Klimkówka, Przemyśl, Wierzbica, Bircza… Could it be that “people have prepared this fate for people…”
